Rights and licence questions depend on the music used, the setting, how it is played and the rights represented by a licensing organisation. Commercial spaces and private, non-commercial occasions need not be treated alike. A tariff quoted for one category cannot be assumed to cover another venue or event.

The review service
Music-use review and handover
A two-week review can cover an introductory brief, mapping your spaces and uses of music, organising the relevant questions and handing a written summary to your team. The exact scope and timing are agreed after we understand the venue and information available.
Viva’s review fee is separate from any licence charges, artist fees, music subscriptions or legal fees. Ask us for a quote based on the spaces and uses to be reviewed; we do not present an unverified tariff as your venue’s price.
Common questions
Does Viva issue the licence?
No. Any licence is issued by the relevant authorised organisation. We help you prepare information and coordinate questions; the issuing organisation confirms its coverage and process.
Is this legal advice?
No. For a legal interpretation of a requirement, exemption or contract, use official guidance or your own qualified counsel.
Does a DJ fee or streaming subscription cover the venue?
Do not assume so. The rights and permissions supplied by a DJ, platform or subscription may differ from those needed for public use of music. Check the terms and your venue’s circumstances with the relevant organisation.
What if we only play music at private events?
The answer depends on whether an event is commercial or non-commercial, where and how the music is used, and the rights involved. Some private, non-commercial celebrations may be treated differently. Confirm the position for each use rather than applying a blanket rule.
